Cocooned

I couldn’t sleep last night, so sat in the dark living room watching snow silently falling…

so, so lovely and peaceful… I find watching snowflakes drifting to the ground to be as mesmerizing as watching waves caress the shore…

Todd is off to Geneva, Switzerland and Gabe is visiting grandma in South Carolina.

The girls are baking a chocolate cake…

There’s something so soothing about snowy days… like there’s really nothing that needs to be done right now, no place we need to be…

An Early Christmas

We celebrated Christmas early since Todd had to head to Argentina for four days… I have to say it was one of my favorites. We opened gifts slowly, relaxed all day, and strolled through the zoo lights sipping hot cocoa… Now we’re in movie mode for the next three days…

The girls pick out the most thoughtful gifts… Amelia used her own babysitting money…

Gabe’s gift was a pilot briefcase and all of the manuals he needs for flight school… He still thinks he might want to follow in his daddy’s footsteps…

Belle’s gift was a camera…

Amelia wanted an i-pod player…

… and the zoo lights were better than ever.

moments like this

We picked up Amelia from COSI after she finished volunteering, dropped Gabe off at yoga class, and headed across the street to Zencha Tea to wait. Amelia and I shared coconut chai, Todd had matcha and we nibbled on dumplings and cookies. We talked about her very religious fellow volunteers and she shared her views and thoughts and all I can say is… wow, what a cool kid… really. I’m realizing more and more how much I really like parenting teenagers… who knew?
